Precision Drive Systems (PDS)
Precision Drive Systems (PDS), a global provider of precision motor spindles, expert engineering support, and repair services near Charlotte, has partnered with Missouri-based MachMotion, which specializes in upgrading and retrofitting aging, outdated, or obsolete manufacturing machines with new CNC controls and automation solutions.
Through this exclusive agreement, MachMotion will update the servo controllers and electrical schematics of routers and other CNC machines on-site. Every router retrofit upgrade package will feature new PDS-brand spindles equipped with PDS’s onboard Spindle Health Information Monitoring System (SHIMS). This miniaturized quality-control system monitors and analyzes machine spindles using real-time vibration and temperature data to predict malfunctions, reduce downtime, and report collisions or failures. Once updated, all routers and machinery will be thoroughly tested, unlocking the full potential of your machine for a fraction of the cost of replacement, with minimal production interruption.
“We're excited to combine MachMotion’s onsite retrofit and upgrade expertise with our engineering team’s ability to optimize and customize PDS’s accurate and durable high-speed spindles,” says Robert Turk, president of PDS. “Together, we can help our customers extend the service life and value of their equipment, significantly improve spindle quality and reliability, and reduce costly downtime.”
