Firehawk Aerospace
Firehawk Aerospace, a defense technology leader specializing in advanced energetics and propulsion technologies, was recently awarded a two-year, firm-fixed-price contract for $4.9 million from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to accelerate the development of next-generation hybrid rocket engines, including solid and liquid rocket motor components, additive manufacturing processes, and modeling and simulation tools for strategic and tactical missiles.
“Innovative, agile, and cost-effective propulsion is critical to maintaining the technological American advantage in the face of evolving threats,” says Michael Stark, President of Firehawk. “Our transformative approach to hybrid engines as well as our propellant and rocket fuel production delivers scalable, adaptable and high-performance systems to AFRL that will shape the future of defense.”
To date, Firehawk has successfully completed over 60 hot fire tests for hybrid and solid rocket motors, as well as one hybrid flight test, demonstrating the maturity and versatility of its propulsion technologies.
Firehawk is redefining how solid and hybrid rocket motors are designed, manufactured and fielded. By reducing production timelines from several weeks to mere hours, combined with a commercial off the shelf and mobile manufacturing approach, Firehawk enhances operational agility while driving down production costs, offering a strong alternative to legacy and other emerging propulsion manufacturing methods.
Firehawk is committed to strengthening the U.S. supply of critical energetics and rapidly restoring the nation’s arsenal in response to emerging threats.
