“When CDR initiated Canada’s Top Defence Companies survey & ranking over 20 years ago, for our #1 company, we had to look no further than CAE, an exemplary Canadian aerospace and defense company that was a world leader in its field,” says CDR editor-in-chief Peter A. Kitchen. “Now, all these years later we’ve come full circle as the Montreal-based company wins the #1 position for a record third time.”

He added, “CDR would like to congratulate CAE’s excellent outgoing President and CEO, Marc Parent, on the important work he’s done building this company into a true world leader in training and simulation. And, last year CAE's SkyAlyne joint venture won the important FAcT contract to supply the RCAF with critical aircrew training in a 25-year, $11.2 billion deal. So, for all these reasons and more, we are extremely pleased to once more recognize CAE as Canada’s #1 Defense Company.”

This year CDR has added 11 new companies to the Top 100 ranking, a testament to the strength of Canada’s defense industry.

An evaluation panel consisting of CDR editorial staff and independent advisors ranked the companies based on factors such as economic impact, innovation, contribution to the nation's security, corporate integrity and support for Canada’s military.

With the publication of its annual Top 100 Defence Company Ranking, CDR’s goal is to showcase Canada’s defense industry and all that it has to offer.
