APELC
APELC, a leader in high-voltage and pulsed power solutions, proudly announces the successful installation of a state-of-the-art 2m RS105 HEMP simulator at the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific in San Diego. This installation represents a significant leap forward in APELC's commitment to addressing critical testing needs within the defense industry, providing NIWC Pacific with unparalleled capabilities for RS105 testing under MIL-STD-461G.
NIWC Pacific, renowned for its research and development prowess across all warfighting domains, identified a pressing need for RS105 testing to evaluate the hardness of Naval subsystems against simulated E1 high-altitude electromagnetic pulses (HEMP). With APELC's RS105 HEMP simulator, NIWC Pacific gains the ability to conduct comprehensive testing of larger Naval sub-system components, including equipment racks and antennas, which can reach heights of up to 2m.
"Our collaboration with NIWC Pacific underscores APELC's unwavering dedication to delivering cutting-edge testing solutions that precisely meet the evolving needs of our defense partners," says Jon Mayes, CEO at APELC. "By providing a turn-key RS105 system alongside comprehensive support, we empower NIWC Pacific to conduct vital testing on their assets, ensuring component-level hardness against high-altitude nuclear EMP events."
The installation process involved meticulous planning and coordination between APELC engineers and NIWC personnel. A custom-sized 2m EUT RS105 system was selected from APELC's catalog to meet NIWC's specific requirements. APELC's team worked hand in hand with NIWC to ensure precise placement of the simulator, including the installation of anchor points and guide wires on a newly constructed concrete pad.
"Ensuring optimal siting for the simulator was paramount, given its substantial footprint," emphasizes Mayes. "Our team employed highly accurate methods to guarantee precise placement, meticulously considering electromagnetic interactions with the surrounding environment."
APELC's RS105 HEMP simulator addresses a critical industry gap, empowering NIWC Pacific to conduct RS105 testing under MIL-STD-461G. This installation underscores APELC's commitment to advancing defense research and development through innovative testing solutions.
