For multi-tasking part processing, the QT-Ez 12MSY accommodates rotating tools and features two turning spindles along with Y-axis functionality for efficient single-setup Done In One processing of a wide range of parts. While the machine comes standard with a 12" chuck, Mazak offers 8" and 10" options.

The QT-Ez 12MSY is equipped with integral motor headstocks, hybrid MX linear roller guideways, and pre-tensioned ball screws supported at both ends for reliable, thermally stable, and precise machine axis movement. A new bed casting design provides rigidity, as well as streamlined chip flow to help eliminate chip accumulation. For ease of integration, the machine incorporates a 200V to 230V power supply system.

Along with optional spindles, chuck sizes, and tailstocks, the QT-Ez Series is available with a complete range of additional cost-effective and popular options. These include Mazak’s Automatic Tool Eye, chip conveyor, auto door, auto parts catcher, and high-pressure coolant systems, all of which make it easy for shops to further improve productivity.

Mazak equips the Ez Series machines with MAZATROL SmoothEz CNC for ease of use and programming. The control provides dual 800MHz processors, 512MB of RAM and a 15" capacitive touch screen that includes a full keyboard and displays up to 60 lines of code. Within the control, G-code and Mazak MAZATROL Conversational programming languages support a full range of programming options, while the MAZATROL TWINS function enables use of Solid MAZATROL, Virtual Machining, and Cutting Adviser through Smooth Cam Ai and centralized storage and file management through Smooth Project Manager.

Single spindle automatic lathes

The ECX 2-46 and ECX 2-65 automatic lathes are designed to address the evolution in machining requirements of today’s markets and fill the production gap between multi-spindles and the standard single-spindle automatics. Shorter product life cycles, greater complexity of components, and smaller batches mean higher retooling flexibility from machines for future workpieces.

The ECX is a highly productive, single-spindle automatic for pre-production batches (PPAP) or batch sizes below the practical or economic application limit for multi-spindle automatics.

By combining the flexibility and simple handling of single-spindle automatics with the productivity of multi-spindle automatics, this new series of automatic lathes closes the gap between the two types of machining technology.

Heat-shrink system

The powerShrink provides fast, reliable, and energy-efficient heat-shrinking for high-speed steel and hard metal tools.

powerShrink consistently heat-shrinks complete tools in less than 60 seconds due to the design of the induction coil. It includes two separately controlled windings, shortening the heating time to only what’s necessary, reducing machine downtime and limiting wear on heat-shrink toolholders to extend their life.

The newest models of the powerShrink use about 30% less energy than previous versions.

For efficient cooling, the powerShrink has five cooling bells that fit standard heat-shrink toolholders, and the cooling bell guide comes in two variants: the simple fixing mechanism or the linear guide. The zStream air cooling option provides extra flexibility and protection of cutting tool edges and holders.

ZOLLER’s light-controlled operator guidance and the pilot operating software walk the operator through the heat-shrink process, using a graphic display to indicate the component needed for each step and giving the green light when the process is complete.

The powerShrink is safety certified by TUV according to UL/CSA certification standards.
